You’re in this body. Your body has specific things it likes or doesn’t like, and does and doesn’t do. It has talents and things it cannot do. It has a purpose in life.
It does all of this whether you like it or not. So you can try to outrun it because you don’t like whatever it is your body — your physical form, though a little spiritual sounding, may be a better way to put it — is or isn’t. This is the reason you feel not in line with yourself. The better thing to do is to find out whatever your body wants and doesn’t want. What makes you feel certain emotions. What your so called purpose is. Whether that’s whittling wood or being around numbers all day. Maybe it’s to change the world, who knows. The earlier you find out what your body does, what your thing is, the shorter you have to live in that existential stress.
“We don’t create the meaning of our life, we discover it.”
- Sartre
You have been put in this body. This specific body with this specific mind. Get to know it.
What did you want to be as a kid? What made you happy, what made you sad? It’s natural if those things change over time, but at the core there are still things that are the same.
