Publish With Us: A Comprehensive Guide to Becoming a Published Author

Are you an aspiring author seeking to bring your literary masterpiece to life? Look no further! At Apollo Libraries, we are dedicated to hosting talented writers and helping them achieve their dreams of becoming published authors. In this article, we will walk you through our simple and transparent publishing process, from application to book release, along with the support we provide to boost your book's visibility.

APPLICATION PROCESS

We accept works of all genres for application. Poetry included.

The first step to becoming a published author is applying your manuscript, a cover letter and the submission form to us via info@apolloimperium.com. Don't worry, we'll take you through what you need to include.

1. What to send us

  • Attach a cover letter introducing yourself and providing a brief description of your manuscript.

  • Attach the form below.

  • Attach the first ten pages of your manuscript. If you include more, we will only read the first ten pages.

This form includes all information about formatting and submission requirements.

A commonly asked question is: If I've published my book before through self-publishing, can I still apply that book through Apollo Libraries?

The short answer: no. The longer answer: you can still sell your book with us on our website, but we will not take it on as a new book under the Apollo Libraries name. This is only available for unreleased books.

2. Manuscript Review

Upon receipt of the application, our team will carefully assess the submitted materials. Authors will be notified of the decision. This can be either an approval to proceed further, a request for more material from the manuscript (never the full manuscript yet in this phase) or a rejection with constructive feedback.

YOU'RE APPROVED, NOW WHAT?

Sign on!

Congratulations! You're approved. The first thing we'll ask you to do is to sign some documents (which we will send you personally. You will not be able to find these online with us) and we'll officially make you a part of our author gallery. We'll ask you to write an author's bio (download the document below for a template) and provide some photos so that we can get you on our website in the authors section. Additionally, we'll ask you to write a summary about your book to put on the back of the cover.

Full Manuscript Submission

For approved manuscripts, authors are requested to submit the entire manuscript via email or through a file-sharing service like WeTransfer, especially if the manuscript is too large for traditional email attachments. We do not accept physical manuscripts. We will then review the entire manuscript. If our review suggests the need for professional editing, we will guide authors on how to engage an editor to refine their work.

Book Layout and Design

Once the manuscript is accepted, we will take care of formatting the book for you. Formatting in this sense means checking that everything is ready to go to the printers and making sure the bleeds are correct. Formatting does not include changing fonts, headers and chapters. If you want us to take care of the layout and formatting in that sense, please let us know and we'll see what we can do (usually without a fee, but in cases of larger works or works that require more formatting we will send you a price quote).

If you have any images or illustrations you wish to be included, please either add them before sending the full manuscript or tell us where you want them to be inside the book.

Cover Design Options

There are two options regarding the cover design.

You can provide your own design (or have it commissioned by yourself). In this case, we will review it to make sure it's what's best for your book and also fits our brand's voice (we generally have a big focus on being true to specific book's style and tone, so you don't need to be worried that your book is going to end up looking very uniform. But we do want our books to look good) and suggest edits. In the case that we like it right away, all we will add is our publishing logo and a barcode and format it to fit the actual size of the book.

When providing your own design, you can provide the full cover (backflap, spine and front) or just the front cover (this can also just be a picture!) in which case we will do the rest.

Or, we can design it for you. In this case we will create the entire cover. We will ask you to list some requirements (like fonts, coloring, style, tone). With that information we will then create two cover options for you between which you can choose (you can always suggest smaller edits to the covers like fonts or other details). These covers will already include all necessary details like the barcode and our publishing logo.

THE PUBLISHING PROCESS

With all elements in place, the publishing process begins. Your book will be made available for purchase on our website (options Hardcover, Paperback and Ebook) and through prominent platforms. Amazon (options Hardcover, Paperback and Ebook), Barnes & Noble (options Hardcover, Paperback and Ebook). We make all of our products and books only when they're sold, so there's no need to have or buy stock. (This doesn't mean you won't be able to scale, though!)

But, this won't be done before you have approved a proof copy. Once you have approved it, it's time to get your book out there.

Your book will be featured on our social media channels to widen its reach and engage potential readers. Additionally, it will be listed in our articles section under the Book List, showcasing the array of literary talent we are proud to publish. Other marketing will be done by yourself, but you can always ask us for help.
