"Grimm's Fairytales" is a collection of german folklore and fairytales written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, first published in 1812-14. The tales themselves garnered much attention and fame over the centuries, even getting picked up by Walt Disney and made into animated movies.
He told her that he had been enchanted by a spiteful fairy, who had changed him into a frog; and that he had been fated so to abide till some princess should take him out of the spring, and let him eat from her plate, and sleep upon her bed for three nights.
‘You,’ said the prince, ‘have broken his cruel charm, and now I have nothing to wish for but that you should go with me into my father’s kingdom, where I will marry you, and love you as long as you live.’

The Authors
Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859)
The brothers were German academics, philologists, cultural researchers, and authors who together created some of the most enduring works of folklore and fairy tales. Born in Hanau, in the Landgraviate of Hesse-Kassel (now Germany), the brothers grew up in a family with six other siblings. They both studied at the University of Marburg, where their shared interest in Germanic folklore and linguistics blossomed, leading them to dedicate their lives to collecting and preserving traditional tales.
Jacob and Wilhelm were deeply influenced by the Romantic movement and the prevailing interest in cultural heritage and national identity. Their primary goal was to capture the "pure" forms of tales that had been orally passed down through generations, preserving the cultural heritage of Germany. This pursuit resulted in the publication of their first collection, "Children's and Household Tales" (Kinder- und Hausmärchen), in 1812. The collection, commonly known as "Grimm's Fairy Tales," included now-classic stories such as "Cinderella," "Hansel and Gretel," "Snow White," and "Rapunzel."
The Grimms' legacy lives on, not only through their contributions to folklore and linguistics but also through the countless retellings and adaptations of their stories, which remain a vital part of the cultural fabric around the globe.
